Healing power of tamanu oil
The real healing power of this traditional topical oil is its unique ability to promote the formation of new tissues, thereby accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin (anti-aging). The scientific term for this process is “cicatrisation”.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It is made up of three different layers – the Epidermis, Dermis and Hypodermis. Within these three layers are various other layers, all with specific functions. Nabakura™ Oil effectively speeds up the healing process by penetrating deep into the underlying connective tissues of the skin and promoting the growth of new skin tissue.

Scientists don’t fully understand the unique cicatrizing properties of the oil as it has an extremely complex portfolio of chemistry that is difficult to decipher or explain. However, scientific studies clearly establish that tamanu oil is a significant healing agent, not only because of its ability to produce new skin tissue, BUT ALSO because of its anti-inflammatory, anti-neuralgic, antibiotic and antioxidant properties.

If you suffer from a troublesome skin condition or know someone who does, then you have stumbled upon a unique product that just may be worth giving a try. While there have been a number of scientific studies on tamanu oil, the research has been limited, due largely to the product not being well known outside Pacific Island countries such as Vanuatu & Tahiti. However, sufficient scientific studies have been done in Europe and the U.S to know that this oil has the unique ability to promote the formation of new skin tissue and that it has many beneficial healing properties.
Tamanu oil is a natural healing oil that comes from the tamanu nut.  Where does the best tamanu oil come from? The people of the South Pacific believe the best tamanu oil comes from Vanuatu.  It grows naturally, by the ocean and salty sea air which makes for a powerful strain of the oil.  The real healing power of this traditional topical oil is its unique ability to promote the formation of new tissue, thereby accelerating wound healing and the growth of healthy skin (anti-aging). This is why there are multiple uses for tamanu oil.

How to choose the best quality tamanu oil

No matter where you purchase your tamanu oil, it is important to find oil that is:

  • 100% organic

  • tamanu nuts are hand-gathered

  • tamanu nuts are sun-dried

  • cold-pressed

  • yellow to dark green in color

  • strong in aroma (a nutty, woodsy scent)

  • thick in consistency

Avoid Tamanu oil that is:

  • black in color (old and oxidized)

  • too light in color (may have been mixed with other oils)

  • mixed with other oils

Pure Tamanu oil should be a yellow to dark green color and have a strong, but pleasant aroma.  The scent is nutty and woodsy and the oil has a thick consistency. Look for organic and ethically sourced Tamanu oil and remember that you often get what you pay for. High-quality Tamanu oil will be more expensive. Tamanu oil that is cheap will be of inferior quality and therefore, will not have the same healing properties.
